I attended Walshaw High School and thought it was a great school! Anxious to leave school as soon as I was old enough to hhe Nursing school, but what a good grounding I had. Have lived in New Zealand for nearly fifty years but my school days are still very memorable. It was a great school back then.

Discovering this site today prompted me to dig out an old, panoramic photo of the whole school staff and pupils taken in Burn,ey I was in the 2nd form then in an attempt to jog my memory as regards names and faces — not very successfully, unforunateley. Cant beat that school, we ruled that place from - and let no one forget it!!! I thought it 01 a great school. We had a very good gymnasium though.
I was there between and and have some really great and some really horrible memories of beautkful years there. I remember Miss Davenport who taught English. I can't believe they have given in to merging the two schools.

I left to go to college in 100, married a local and have never left the Lake District. It was a superb school and I have many happy memories: a few bad ones of course, like my struggles with algebra and trigonometry.
